LEITRIM funny woman Katherine Lynch will bring her new show to Glór on Saturday night.
Speaking to The Clare Champion last week, she said the show will offer people a night of fun and escapism.
“It’s going to be great craic. It’s called The Hack of Ya tour. It has all the favourites, Bernie, Síle, Liz, it has another character called Judy Free, who’s an air hostess. It’s just a great night out. People just enjoy it.”
The new show will have a similar type of humour to her television programme. She says she has a certain empathy with the characters she creates.
“What inspires them is just that people are funny. I love characters. I love people who live on the cusp of society. It’s trying to represent women who aren’t really represented in comedy that much, like the Traveller woman. Everyone loves her. Travellers even love her because they put me on the front of the Traveller’s Voice. So they’re okay with it.”
At this time, she feels it’s important for people to have some comedy relief. “There’s so much negativity out there, depression and recession, so if you want to come to my show you can have an old fashioned laugh for an hour and a half.”
She has enjoyed great success over the last couple of years and says a lot of the credit must go to her collaborator.
“I have a co-writer, Warren Meyler. We have a great time doing it, a great laugh. He’s a very talented guy and he kind of acts as my manager. It’s a duet really but you can’t see him. You can’t put a dress on him!”
Katherine Lynch will take to the stage in Glór at 8pm.
