Céira Is A Model For Autistic People

AN Ardnacrusha speech and language therapist, who was diagnosed with Autism and ADHD at the age of 25, is hoping to follow in the footsteps of a former Leaving Certificate classmate at the Miss Ireland final next month. Miss Clare, Céira Moroney (27) is looking forward to participating in various Miss Ireland events over the coming weeks before the final in the Crown Plaza Hotel, Dublin on November 4. They include a sports day, an online makeup challenge, a modeling round, and head-to-head public speaking. Reigning Miss Ireland Doctor Ivanna McMahon, from Barefield who is Dyslexic, is an ambassador for Dyslexic Ireland, worked in the GP Scheme at Tralee General Hospital throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, before she was crowned the 75th Miss Ireland at a ceremony in Castlebar last year. ‘Absolutely surreal’ says Ennis doctor on Miss Ireland win

A CLARE doctor who worked in a hospital during the Covid-19 pandemic has been crowned the new Miss Ireland. Ivanna McMahon, 27, from Barefield told The Champion she is “over the moon” to have taken the title at 75th Miss Ireland competition which was held on Saturday at The Royal Theatre, Castlebar. Ivanna, who qualified for the competition as Miss Munster, will now go on to represent Ireland in Miss World later this year. Speaking to the Clare Champion Ivanna says she is thrilled with the win, though she admits it came as a surprise. “I’m absolutely delighted, I’m still a little bit in shock. It was definitely a surprise, absolutely surreal, but I’m absolutely thrilled.” Cheering her on at the ceremony were her proud parents Catherine and Brian alongside other family and friends. “It was brilliant having them there supporting me. Clare doctor Ivanna is the new Miss Ireland

A CLARE doctor who worked in a hospital during the Covid-19 pandemic has been crowned the new Miss Ireland. Ivanna McMahon, 27, from Barefield told The Champion she is “over the moon” to have taken the title at 75th Miss Ireland competition which was held on Saturday at The Royal Theatre, Castlebar. Ivanna, who qualified for the competition as Miss Munster, will now go on to represent Ireland in Miss World later this year. Beauty and the Beach as Ivanna leads clean-up

MISS Munster Ivanna McMahon from Barefield rolled up her sleeves at the weekend for the Miss Ireland 2022 nationwide beach and waterways clean-up. From August 12 to 14 the 37 finalists vying for the coveted Miss Ireland 2022 title, including Ivanna, put their collective strength and unity together to co-ordinate a big beach clean-up all over Ireland.   Thousands have flocked to our beaches and waterways during the recent warm weather but the glorious sunshine also brought ‘rubbish weather’ as many beaches and waterways across Ireland were left in dire conditions by sun seekers leaving their rubbish behind. Ivanna, 27, gathered her friends and family to do a clean up at Lahinch beach. Determined Miss Clare won’t let scoliosis keep her down

JUST a few short months after undergoing her third spinal surgery, 20-year-old Ennis student Derinn Finnerty has taken the crown of Miss Clare. Derinn, who is studying Global Commerce at NUIG, was diagnosed with severe scoliosis at 16 years of age however she has been determined not to let this stop her following her dreams. She has now been named among the 37 finalists vying for the coveted Miss Ireland 2022 title in this the competition’s 75th Jubilee year. She tells us, “It’s just been amazing, it’s been crazy since I was crowned. Every day there is something new to do, and I’m loving it. “I’ve had so many people wishing me well. I’m just so honoured to be able to represent the county.” Derinn is determined to raise awareness of scoliosis, a condition which results in an abnormal curvature of the spine, and she is working with Irish charity Straight Ahead to raise funds to support children waiting on …

Ennis student to represent Clare in Miss Ireland contest

A TWENTY-YEAR-OLD student from Ennis will represent County Clare this year at the 75th Miss Ireland competition. Derinn Finnerty is 20 years of age and has just finished her second year of studying Global Commerce NUIG. She is passionate about helping others and enjoys her role as an advocate for students, as she is the class representative for her course. Derinn was diagnosed with severe scoliosis at 16 and is currently recovering from her third spinal fusion surgery to fix her spine. She is working with Straight Ahead Ireland as part of her beauty with a purpose project to help raise funds for children with scoliosis. Derinn hopes to be a role model for young people as she shows that when faced with adversity a positive attitude, determination and self-belief will help you achieve your goals in life. THE search for Miss Clare 2022 is now on and organisers of this year’s Miss Ireland competition are urging the women of the Banner to shine like a diamond and get involved. This year marks its 75th Jubilee of the Miss Ireland competition and the search has officially begun for Miss Clare 2022. Selections will run all over the country to find contestants from each county with beauty, poise and personality to take part in the Miss Ireland 2022 competition next summer. The winner from each county will represent their county at the most spectacular ever Diamond Jubilee Miss Ireland show. The winner of each of the county crowns and sashes also enjoy representing their county and title throughout the year at various events, awards and appearances. Siobhán hoping to secure a place as a finalist in Miss Ireland

KILMALEY’S Siobhán Fitzpatrick is hoping luck will shine and that she will secure a place as a finalist in this year’s Miss Ireland. The 21-year-old student teacher was the first runner up at the 2020 Miss Clare selection which has secured her a place in the upcoming semi-final. There was no Miss Ireland final selection in 2020 due to Covid-19 so the semi-finalists will now get a chance to compete in a virtual event that could see them move forward to Miss Ireland 2021. The Miss Ireland semi-final sees all the runner up placements from the 2020 selections which were able to take place within guidelines now take part in a virtual TV format selection. A top panel of judges will interview all 20 finalists and select eight lucky girls who will move forward to Miss Ireland 2021.
