youth choir helps to build a new future for young people suffering loss

    Members of a youth choir have set the seeds to provide hope for their peers suffering loss through an innovative project. Clarecastle Ballyea Youth Choir and Celtic Ensemble Londubh launched another aspect of their project Youth helps Youth in Mid-Clare churches recently. Motivated by the words of former USA president Franklin D Roosevelt, who stated “We can’t always build the future for our youth,” they are determined to build up youth for the future. The two groups introduced to the liturgy symbols of healing at masses in Roslevan, Clarecastle, Ballyea, Ennis, Shannon and Quin last weekend to create public awareness of children who are experiencing a difficult time. They expressed their delight at being able to join in support with the young people of the Children’s Grief Centre in Limerick who are experiencing loss. Olive Foley’s tribute to ‘soulmate’

Details of the last conversation former Munster legend, Anthony Foley had with his wife, Olive and son, Tony were revealed during his funeral mass in St Flannan’s Church, Killaloe on Friday. Olive recalled the last time she spoke to her husband was last Saturday week, just hours before he passed away from a heart attack at the Munster team hotel in Paris. “We chatted about the lads and how they were getting on in the athletics, and how Tony was faring in the javelin.” “Tony had a chat with too. It was a lovely conversation… I didn’t know it would be our last,” she said, breaking down. During a heart-rendering tribute, she praised her “soul mate” with whom she had spent “seventeen wonderful years” of marriage. Clarecastle-Ballyea choir in TV mass

Members of Clarecastle-Ballyea Youth Choir are gearing up for their appearance on national television this Sunday. A four-minute promotional video of the young choir in action was filmed recently, ahead of a live mass that will be broadcast on RTÉ One and RTÉ Radio at 11am. The chief celebrant of this special mass at St Peter and Paul’s Church, Clarecastle will be Clarecastle-Ballyea parish priest, Fr Pat Malone. Choir director Claire O’Dea told The Clare Champion the members are “unbelievably excited” and are looking forward to their performance on tv and radio with a great sense of anticipation. “This is a great tribute for a choir, which is in its infancy after it was set up last September. We have 40 members, aged from 10 to 18, who have some connection with Clarecastle and Ballyea. “All the choir members enjoy it tremendously and it is great for their own self-development.
