President Higgins extends sympathy to family of Lahinch man

PRESIDENT Michael D Higgins has expressed his sadness at the death of 39 year old Lahinch man, Michael Ryan who was a passenger on board an Ethiopian Airlines flight from Addis Ababa to Nairobi, which crashed on Sunday morning. All 157 people on the flight have died. Passengers from 33 countries were on board. Mr Ryan was from Attychristoria, Lahinch and worked with The United Nations World Food Programme. He lived in Cork with his wife and two children. The family were due to move to Rome in the coming weeks. “As President of Ireland may I express my deep sadness for the tragic loss of so many lives in the air crash in Ethiopia and may I convey the deepest sympathy of the Irish people to all the families and communities affected. This tragedy affects so many, with passengers from more than 30 countries and from several international organisations on board the flight,” President Higgins said. “In particular I wish …
