Any Clare Soccer committee member found to be guilty of “leaking private league business to the media or public” will be suspended for five years from the executive if a motion to next Monday’s Clare Soccer League AGM is carried.
The motion will be proposed by Inch Crusaders, the club of league secretary Oliver Fitzpatrick.
It’s a motion that is expected create debate, as is the proposal from Lifford to change the playing season to run from March to November.
Inch will also propose that all executive committee members must be a member of a club affiliated to the league.
They will also propose that the premier and first divisions be increased to 12 teams.
Turnpike Rovers will ask that registrations be reduced to €30 per player and that no referee be appointed to games involving the same team for back-to-back fixtures. They also want the season to start with league games and that the first half of the league programme be completed before the second half starts. The Ennis club is also calling for monthly delegate meetings.
Shannon Olympic want head-to-head meetings to decide placings for play-off positions when teams finish level on points. They have also tabled motions regarding a quorum for meetings and updating lists of officers on the executive committee.
Ennis Town Rock will call for the setting up of a three-man disciplinary committee not affiliated to a club in the league, while they are also seeking changes to rules regarding disciplinary procedures.
Kilmaley/Fern Celtic have tabled motions regarding registration forms and updating registration forms and suspensions on the website.
Elections
The outgoing chairman, secretary and treasurer, Donie Garrihy, Oliver Fitzpatrick and Michael McInerney, will be returned for another term at Monday’s AGM of the Clare Soccer League, which will take place at 8pm at the West County Hotel.
They are the only nominees for these posts.
There are two nominees for the vice-chairman’s post, Paul Tuohy (outgoing) and former chairman, Frank Healy.
Outgoing fixtures secretary, Michael Lydon is nominated for the post again, as is Donal Kirby from Shannon.
Lydon is nominated for the post of registrar, along with Frankie Gormley (Turnpike Rovers), Frank Healy, Dave Kerin and the current holder of the post, Leo Murphy. Murphy confirmed to The Clare Champion this week that due to work commitments, he will not be seeking re-election.
Another current officer who won’t be part of the executive next season is vice-chairman Paul Tuohy, who has confirmed that he will not be seeking another term. Frank Healy has announced that he is seeking election to this position.
There are three nominees for the post of FAI Council delegate. In addition to the current holder of the post, Jim Madden, league secretary Oliver Fitzpatrick and Connolly Celtic’s Tony Dillon are nominated.
Munster delegate, Thomas Leahy and PRO Gerry Scanlon will be returned for another term.
There are four people nominated, from which two will be elected onto the committee. Pádraig McCullough, Mark Egan, Barry Murphy and Frank Healy are the nominees.
