Still waves to be had in the West
Coinciding with the amazing run of weather, the west coast has been getting some of the best surf conditions of the year. Does it get any better?
This coming week’s waves may not be as promising but there’s still waves to be had. Friday, Monday and Tuesday look like being the most promising for days out.
The waves look like being waist to chest high with moderate south and hopefully south-east winds. Any wind from the east is ideal for Clare surfers. It blows into the face of the wave, making conditions a lot cleaner, the surfer’s dream. This weekend there will be small waves, so hardcore surfers may need to go to the most exposed beaches to find a wave worth talking about.
On Saturday, the low tide is at 2pm, so there’ll be plenty of beach between 11am and 5pm to get in and out of the waves.
Outside of those times, the waves will be up on the rocks in Lahinch, making it tricky for novice surfers.
