A NEW exhibition, Sunshine Photography has opened at the Cliffs of Moher Visitor Centre, featuring works of North Clare photographer Brian Cosgrove.
This is Brian’s second exhibition. His work has also been featured by Martin King on the TV3 weather but he has welcomed this chance to exhibit at the renowned centre with open arms.
“The theme for my exhibition is sunshine photography because it’s the main element of my shots. I was always interested in painting and drawing but photography gave me a new dimension. Living in North Clare gave me the opportunity to capture the beauty that is all around me from the ocean, The Burren, The Cliffs of Moher to Galway Bay. We have the most beautiful landscape and seascape in the world and when the sun shines you need never travel to another destination,” he said.
Sunshine Photography opened last weekend and continues through until April. The exhibit features 26 photographs that encompass various landscape, seascape and wildlife scenes from around the North Clare area.
“Photography is a hobby really and I’ve always been interested in painting and drawing and that photography is a new keen interest of mine and I’ve really been enjoying it here for the last couple of years. I had an exhibition in Galway last year and now this exhibition in Clare is my second. The photographs are all relative to the North Clare seascape, landscape and wildlife. I was over the moon to get this space. There is great footfall at the cliffs. It’s a fantastic location for artist, painter and photographer so I’m really excited about that,” he said.
Brian is living in Glan South, Ennistymon and has only been working in the field of photography for the last two years. He has been inspired by the flora and fauna of the Burren and natural beauty of North Clare.
“Since I was a young fella, I’ve always loved West and North Clare, the Burren, Galway Bay, I love the west of Ireland. It’s a real passion of mine. I really love the connection between the land and the sea, the seascapes and the powerful waves. I’ve a few shots of powerful waves coming in off the west coast and a beautiful shot at the cliffs. I only got that shot last week when the storm was blowing in. Normally when you look at shots of the Cliffs of Moher you just see the calm with white spray but this day I got some very big waves. I’ve a few of horses and donkeys too so I’ve a good mix there,” Brian continued.
His interest in the art has really grown in the last year and he believes, equally, his ability has grown with it. He is now looking forward to developing his skills further and hoping to move forward by exhibiting again.
“I’m delighted to be able to exhibit here in North Clare and in such a great location, I mean the Cliffs of Moher is famous all over the world and to be in there with something that is just my hobby is great,” he concluded.
