What a year for The Saw Doctors

FOLLOWING their sell-out show in Ennis early this year, The Saw Doctors, who are enjoying renewed chart success with an Acapella version of their song Red Cortina, will headline a major Christmas concert at The West County Hotel.
At the December 27 gig, The Saw Doctors will play tracks from their recent number-one album, The Further Adventures of The Saw Doctors, as well as singing many of their hits from the Best Of collection, To Win Just Once, which has gone platinum in Ireland with sales of over 30,000 copies.  This year has been a hugely successful year for The Saw Doctors with a sell-out Australian tour in March, summer festival appearances at Glastonbury and Oxegen, and an 18-date UK tour, which included sell-out concerts at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire and the famous Glasgow Barrowland venue.
In September, top comedian Peter Kay launched the band’s new studio album, The Further Adventures of The Saw Doctors, which received a four-star review from the Hot Press Magazine. In January 2011, The Saw Doctors have been invited to play the inaugural ball in Baltimore USA, for the newly elected Governor of Maryland, Martin O’Malley, who is a big fan of the band and has joined The Saw Doctors on stage this summer at a US concert by the band in Baltimore, MD. In March, the band, which burst onto the Irish music scene 20 years ago with their big hit, I Useta Lover, will play a 15-date coast-to-coast tour of the US with concerts at New York’s Irving Plaza, the House of Blues in Boston, Vic Theatre in Chicago, and Slim’s in San Francisco.
Fronted by Tuam songwriters Davy Carton on vocals and Leo Moran on guitar, The Saw Doctors have been described by BBC Radio 2 presenter Chris Evans as “one of the great live bands” when he saw them during their recent UK tour.
Completing the five-man line-up is former Waterboy Anthony Thistlethwaite on bass guitar and saxophone, Eimhin Cradock on drums and Kevin Duffy on keyboards.
