Strong second half seals it for Scariff

Scariff 3-16   Corofin 0-13

Level at 0-8 each at half time, there was little to suggest that the second half would provide such a convincing win for Scariff but the East Clare outfit were the dominant force after the break and deservingly won out to keep their hopes of promotion strong.

Corofin went ahead early in the second half when Stephen Heagney scored but Scariff stepped up a great and a goal from Austin Madden together with points from Conor McNamara, Michael Scanlan, Alphie Rodgers and Kenny McNamara saw the home side take control.

 

Corofin closed the gap to five points but a Scariff goal from substitute John Scanlan killed off their comeback before Madden struck for his second goal.

Parteen maintained their s trong challenge for a place in the knock out stage of division 2 with this victory over Killanena at the weekend.

The winners laid the foundations for victory in the opening half when they went 4-9 to 1-7 ahead.
David Small (2) Joe O’Connor and Brian McSweeney were the goalscorers for the winners while Alan McNamara replied for Killanena.

Crusheen continued their good form in the Division 2 League with this victory over Ennistymon.
The winners were 0-6 to 0-4 in front at half time with Sean Weir having scored four of their points.

The teams remained closely matched in the second half before a point from wing-back Briain Dillon sealed victory for the winners.

Sixmilebridge made their trip to Ruan a fruitful one as they avenged last year’s championship defeat to the hosts with a narrow win.

Sixmilebridge were without a few regulars on the day due to exams and injury but nevertheless put in a strong performance with David O’Connor, Stiofan Fitzpatrick, Cyril Crowe, Thomas Liddy and Sam O’Sullivan all getting on the score sheet.

Those who performed best for the winners were Pa Freeman, Kevin Phelan, Ger Quilligan, Tommy Morey and David O’Connor.
