Strong finish by Feakle-Killanena

Feakle-Broadford 3-5
Éire Óg 1-6

FEAKLE-Broadford and Éire Óg served up a highly entertaining affair in the latest round of the Minor Camogie Championship. Éire Óg played with the aid of a strong breeze but Feakle-Broadford were first on the scoreboard when, in the second minute, Jodi Guilfoyle raised the green flag following good work from Niamh Mulqueen. Both teams battled hard, with little being given by either side.

Éire Óg laid siege on the Feakle-Broadford goal and were rewarded with a goal from Amy Broderick and two points before Feakle registered their second score, a free from Regan Conway. Éire Óg finished the stronger with two points to leave the score at 1-4 to 1-1 at the interval.

Feakle-Broadford attacked from the resumption of play and indeed much of the second half was played in the Éire Óg half of the field. Feakle picked off two early points from Aoife Dillon. A long delivery from Regan Conway was finished to the net by Lauren Guilfoyle to give Feakle-Broadford the lead.

Éire Óg pulled back level with two points from placed balls but Feakle-Broadford began to take control. A goal from Guilfoyle and two points from Aoife Dillon and Aoife Tuohy put this tie beyond Éire Óg.

Narrow win for Kilmaley

Kilmaley 1-10
Clooney-Quin 1-9

THE Minor B tie played at Kilmaley on Wednesday evening was played at 12-a-side.
Ashling Cahill opened the scoring for Kilmaley, who went on to lead 0-6 to 0-5 at the interval. There were some very good displays from Lauren McGuane and Ashling Cahill in the first half. The Kilmaley defence of Aleisha Pyne and Saoirse Glynn also played well.

The second half resumed at a much more frantic pace and both teams upped the ante. Kilmaley got scores from Caoimhe O’Halloran and Sinéad O’Keeffe, but Clooney Quin fought back to bring the game level at 0-8 apiece.
Kilmaley’s goaled resulted from a clearance from Saoirse Glynn, which was picked up in the middle of the field by Leighanne McMahon, who found Ashling Cahill and she made no mistake.

Clooney replied with a goal but Kilmaley held their nerve, to win by a single point.

In another game in this championship, Ballyea were 4-9 to 1-4 winners over St Joseph’s.
