A Coaching Forum has been launched by Clare Sports Partnership, in conjunction with Clare GAA, Clare District Soccer League, Munster Rugby, Clare Camogie, Clare Ladies Football, Clare Athletics and Coaching Ireland.

The Clare Coaching Forum aims to promote ancillary coaching opportunities for all who are involved in coaching and sports leadership. The forum is open to any coach or manager, qualified or not, to join. From November to June next year, there will be various coaching related initiatives.

“The forum will mean that there is a structured and sustainable model for continuing coach education in Clare for the future,” said John Sweeney, co-ordinator of the Sports Partnership.

“All training initiatives on the calendar this year are there due to a request from different coaches on the ground. During this first year, we will be asking the members that join to design the training for the following year. Through time, the forum will become an integral part of sport in Clare, and a model for good practice across the country.”

Michael McGeehin, director of coaching Ireland, added, “The forum will add great value to the coaching structures in the county and most importantly enhance the knowledge, skills and confidence in coaches in Clare,” he said.

The following is the schedule for upcoming workshops: November, Sports First Aid; December: Understanding Strength and Conditioning; January: Nutrition for Sport; February: GYM Edge – Gymnastics for Sport; March: Psychology for Sport; April: Speed for Sport; May: Coaching Conference to be confirmed; June: Managing Players.
For membership details and a full list of workshop costs and contents, see www.claresportspartnership.ie or call John or James on 065 6865434.
