Slight drop in Live Register figures

THE number of people on the Live Register in the Mid-West has risen by more than 5,000 people in the last year but decreased by 230 over the past month.

In Clare, the number of people signing on went from 9,604 in April last year to 10,633 in March and 10,504 in April.
At locations across the county, there was a drop in the number of people signing on between April and May. In Ennis, the figure went from 6,039 to 5,976.
In North Clare, there were 1,586 signing on last month, compared to 1,649 the previous month.
West Clare saw the number on the Live Register grow year on year by 186 but decrease by 16 over the past month from 1,445 to 1,429.
Tulla saw the only month-on-month increase in the numbers signing on, growing by 13 between March and April and by 167 since this time last year.
