MEMBERS of Ennis-based Pantaloons are counting the weeks until they take to the stage for this year’s pantomime when the fairytale story of Sleeping Beauty comes to Glór from Sunday, December 27, to Sunday, January 3.
Pantaloons pantomime is an annual highlight for theatre goers and families across the county.“We’re delighted to be back at Glór with this year’s pantomime, which again highlights the directing and writing talents of Leonard Anderson,” explains a spokesperson.
The cast includes some regular Pantaloons like Clare’s own Dame, Ken O’Shaughnessy, and the extremely funny Paul Curley, who is playing the part of the prince’s sidekick, Jupiter. Tina O’Neill is the evil fairy, while Geraldine Saunders plays the good fairy. Andrew Killeen is the handsome prince and the talented Cara Walsh plays Princess Aurora. Paul Cusack is the long-suffering king, while Maeve Fox plays the part of the queen. Caitilin Fitzgerald plays the Lord Chamberlain, Rachel Fitzgerald and Leah Killeen play the fairies.
Another addition to the Pantaloons’ crew are the boys and girls from of the School of Performing Arts in Ennis. The school is run by Tommy Drennan and Pearl Kiely and they say that they’re having a ball preparing for their roles.
As they’ve done since 2001, the Pantaloons are promising good old-fashioned entertainment for all ages.
