Photograph by John Kelly. The scoreline doesn’t do justice to Wolfe Tones who held the ’Bridge in check in the opening half. Tones opened the scoring with a Laura Linnane free and both sides traded points for the opening quarter before Chloe Morey free gave the ’Bridge the minimum advantage. Tones hit back with four unanswered points to give them a 0-7 to 0-4 lead with 25 minutes played. Aiveen O’Shea’s goal in the 28th minute levelled matters and Naomi Carroll’s free in the 31st minute gave the ’Bridge side the minimum lead at the break.
The ’Bridge put in a second-half performance that blitzed the Shannon side and with Sinéad Tuohy scoring 4-1, it was all one way traffic. Wolfe Tones battled to the end but were up against stronger opposition, who were firing on all cylinders and could only watch as the ’Bridge girls extended their lead to run out comfortable winners.
