THE Ennis Swimming and Lifesaving Club Grade C swimmers recently participated in a Munster graded gala at the Askeaton Sports Complex. Overall, the swimmers took home 16 individual medals and six relay medals.
There were six swimmers in the 12-13 age group who attained their Grade B qualifying times in the 100m freestyle and the 100m individual medley; Hannah Bredin, Harry Broderick, Rachel Daly, Katie Rose Healy, Caelinn Meaney and Leah Mulcaire.
In addition, Rachel Daly put in a great swim in securing a gold medal in the 50m freestyle and knocking two-seconds off her personal best to finish in a time of 38.63. Leah Mulcaire added a bronze medal finishing the 100m freestyle in a personal best of 1:25.58.
Harry Broderick had an exceptional personal best in his 100m individual medley, touching the wall in 1:36.82 and winning a silver medal. He added a gold medal in the 50m freestyle with another personal best, finishing in 36.72.
Other medal winners in the U-11 age group included Odette Gleeson, who earned double gold in the 50m breaststroke and the 50m backstroke, while setting personal best times in both events. Conor Sheehy won a silver medal in the 50m backstroke.
In the 12-13 age group, Laura McMahon knocked seven seconds off her personal best in her silver medal swim in the 100m freestyle and followed it with another silver medal and personal best in her 50m freestyle. Aoife Glavin won a silver medal in the 50m freestyle, while teammate Eimear Casey won a bronze medal in the 50m backstroke. Darragh Broderick earned a bronze medal in the 50m breaststroke and Niall Coote secured a bronze medal in the 50m backstroke. Lorcan Casey put in a strong swim in winning the gold medal in the 100m freestyle in 1:24.17.
Eoin Hartigan swam well in his gold medal 50m breaststroke race. In the 14-15 age group, Caoimhe Tweedy won a gold medal in the 50m breaststroke.
