Gort’s Ciara Doran, 13, representing Limerick Swimming Club, competed in Irish Age Group National Division 1 swimming finals in the 13-14 age group last week.
Ciara won silver in the 800m freestyle and bronze in the 4 x 100m IM relay.
The competition attracted swimmers from across the country for what was a highly competitive competition
In all, Ciara competed in 10 events, setting good times in all and achieving two national times in the process. National times are the times set by Swim Ireland as a standard time to allow the swimmer to be selected onto the Irish squad.
Ciara competed in the following events: 100m free, finishing 24th; 200m freestyle, finishing 10th; 400m freestyle, finishing ninth and achieving a national time; 800m freestyle, finishing second and achieving a national time; 200m backstroke, finishing 10th; 200m butterfly, finishing seventh, 200m IM, finishing ninth; 400m IM, finishing sixth, 4x100m free, finishing fourth and 4 x 100m IM, finishing third.
