NORTH Clare will see a cash injection of more than €2.5 million this May and June as All Signs Lead to Ballyvaughan.
The Tour de Burren, Burren Marathon, Brehon Law Weekend, Burren in Bloom, Féile an tSamhraidh and Ballyvaughan Races are expected to draw 14,000 visitors to the seaside town during May and June. Details of the events will be revealed at a public launch of the All Signs Lead to Ballyvaughan summer festivals this Friday.
The organisers of the festivals and events estimate they will be worth in the region of €2.5m to the local economy. The festivals will lead to a combined footfall in the North Clare region of about 14,000 and an estimated 6,300 bed nights for hotels, guesthouses and B&Bs in the area.
“These festivals are going to have a significant impact on the local economy. It is very positive for the area. What is really wonderful about it is that this is all community driven to get people to come to Ballyvaughan and to maximise the potential of all the events happening in the area from May to the end of June,” said Barbara Faulkner of Clare Tourism Forum.
The launch of the festivals will take place at the Aillwee Cave and Burren Bird of Prey Centre, Ballyvaughan at 4pm on Friday and is open to the public.
