Shopping online this winter

AS winter hits the country hard, there are a lot of things people have to worry about. Will they be able to get to work in the morning? Is the heating ok? Who will look after the children if the schools are closed?
There are other concerns too, such as how to get the weekly shopping or even make a start on the Christmas presents. Thankfully the internet can be of assistance in this regard at least. Here are a few good online shopping suggestions, which will let you get what you need and have it brought right to your door:

Tesco.ie
The website of the retail giant offers online shopping and home delivery to most locations around the country. If there is a Tesco near where you live, there is a good chance they will deliver to you.
Bear in mind that the company has seen a spike in online sales since the bad weather set in and has also suffered delivery delays due to poor road conditions. It is still delivering, however, you may just need to give it time to get to you.

Buy4now.ie
This website is actually a portal connecting to a number of different brands, including Arnotts, DID Electrical, the GAA and RTÉ. To be honest, you could probably visit this site and do all your Christmas and grocery shopping from here.
The one issue with it is that not all brands have national delivery. Superquinn, for example, only delivers to a very limited area, while others send out packages by registered post. The best thing to do is to check before you start shopping but you are guaranteed to find some of what you want from a shop that delivers to you.

Kilkennyshop.com
You may not get your weekly shop on Kilkennyshop.com but this site is ideal for Irish-made Christmas gifts. Be it ornaments, clothing, crafts or crystal there is plenty to choose from here, though it is fair to say that some of what is on offer is a bit on the pricey side.
The site delivers across Ireland and at the moment, it is free on all orders within the country. There is the option for international orders too, should you want to send something abroad but this will cost a few euro extra.
Review: Canon SX30 IS *****
The SX30 IS is a mid-range camera from Canon that packs a powerful punch for a price that is comparable to its peers. It is the perfect middle ground for someone who wants to take great photos without the hassle of a professional set-up.
Boasting a more-than-impressive 14.1 megapixel sensor and a whopping 35 times optical zoom, the SX30 IS is a serious camera. That kind of firepower would be enough to satisfy even a seasoned photographer, while its range of settings and options give the freedom needed to take plenty of unique shots.
Of course, the pictures taken on the bog-standard auto setting are just as reliable, while the camera’s HD video functionality makes it a worthy competitor even to a dedicated camcorder. The moveable LCD display is a nice touch too, meaning you can keep an eye on what you are taking, no matter what way you hold the device.
On the downside the device is quite bulky, as you would expect it to be with all this under the hood. It takes the form of a proper DSLR professional camera, though it lacks one or two of the benefits, such as the swappable lens. However, the device is comfortable and easy to use and assuming you have space in your bag, it is relatively good value for such a powerful camera.
The Canon SX30 IS can be bought on Pixmania.ie.
