A very skilful Inagh-Kilnamona won the U-14A shield title at Newmarket on Saturday evening when they accounted for Newmarket.
Many of this team are underage for this grade again next year and some will be eligible for the grade a year later, as they are still U-12.
Playing with the aid of the wind in the first half the winners were 2-8 to 0-6 up at the break, with some excellent points from Sean Marrinan, Ian Kerin and Eoin Fitzgerald.
Kerin also scored two goals in the 21st and 26th minutes. Darragh Duggan, Thomas Hehir and Sean Murphy scored some good points for Doora-Barefield.
Scores were fewer in the second half but Inagh-Kilnamona got three vital points to win the game. St Joseph’s tried hard and a goal from sub, Conor Kerins, gave them hope but the shield went to skilful Inagh/Kilnamona. Aiden McCarthy, still U-12, was the star of the game with a tremendous display at midfield for the winners.
After the game Bord na nÓg’s Joe Pender presented the shield to the winners.
