Sheep kill in Tubber

TWO sheep were killed and four were injured to such an extent that they had to be put down following a dog attack in the Boston area of Tubber.

The sheep kill occurred on Friday, June 28, between noon and 3pm, when it is understood two pet dogs attacked sheep in the area.

A golden Labrador was found at the scene covered in blood and a second dog was later identified and put down.

Claredog warden, Frankie Coote, has advised owners to keep their dogs under control as this is not the first kill of this nature.

“There were two dogs involved. Both dogs have been removed. Two sheep were killed and four were badly injured. The other four had to be put down. There were two other instances in the last year but we have no way of proving they were these dogs.

I’ve located the owners and they have agreed to pay the expenses and to surrender the dogs. One was a golden Labrador and the other dog was a crossbreed. They were both pets, so it shows you what can happen. It was horrible to see,” Mr Coote said.
