Kilrush entertain Kildysart in the semi-final of the Garry Cup on Saturday evening at Tubridy Park with Clondegad awaiting the winners in the final.
The Shamrocks made sure of their semi-final place with an eight-point win over Cratloe last Sunday in Cusack Park.
The advantage of having had that competitive game should stand to Kilrush this week against a Kildysart side that hasn’t had a competitive game in almost a month.
It remains to be seen if Clare defender Shane McNeilis will be able to play a part in Saturday’s game. He started their last outing against Clondegad but was forced to retire due to the recurrence of a hamstring injury that saw him miss Clare’s championship campaign this summer.
They will again be looking to the experienced Ger Kelly to pick off vital scores while Neil O’Connor is another key player for the team.
Klilrush will be looking to John Hayes, Matthew Moloney, Chris Dixon and Jim Young to lead and they are expected to be narrowly ahead at the final whistle.
Division 3
The final round of games in the race for the Division 3 title will take place on Sunday.
Cooraclare are already through to the final and are guaranteed promotion to the Garry Cup (Division 2) for next season. Wolfe Tones are through to the semi-final with St Senan’s and Kilmihil battling it out for the other semi-final spot.
St Senan’s play Cooraclare this weekend and must win to get that semi-final spot ahead of Kilmihil. In the event of the Seasiders failing to beat Cooraclare, the semi-final will see Wolfe Tones entertain Kilmihil, whereas a Kilkee win over Cooraclare will put the Seasiders through to play Wolfe Tones.
Division 4
Ennistymon are through to the final of the Division 4 League following a big win over Ballyvaughan last Saturday. They await the winners of the semi-final between Lissycasey and Ballyvaughan that takes place on this Sunday at Lissycasey.
Division 6
Three teams tied at the top of the table in the Division 6 League that resulted in a draw for the play-off places taking place at this week’s meeting of the CHC. Because there have been some walkovers during the league campaign, scoring difference could not be used.
When the draw was made this week, Kilmurry-Ibrickane came out first and so won a place in the final. Moy and O’Currys will clash in the semi-final at Doonbeg on this Saturday with the winners going on to play Kilmurry in the final a week later.
In the event of a draw in any of the league play off games this week (football and hurling) extra time will be played to determine a winner.
