Second-half goals gift victory to Doonbeg

Doonbeg 3-9  St Joseph’s Doora-Barefield 0-9
Scoring an equal amount in each half, albeit in a contrasting manner, Doonbeg scored a three-goal win over St Joseph’s in Gurteen last Saturday.
The winners scored all their points in the opening half and all their goals in the second. They led 0-9 to 0-2 at half-time with David Tubridy (3), Brian and Colm Dillon, Kevin Nugent and Shane Ryan scoring, while first-half substitute Conor Downes also kicked two points.
Cathal Duggan, who scored six of Barefield’s nine points, scored both of their first-half points.
The home club played better in the second half and pulled the deficit back to four points, 0-9 to 0-5, with points from Duggan, Colm Mullen and Cathal O’Sullivan.
However, David Tubridy struck for two goals, with Kevin Nugent adding a third to secure another win for Doonbeg. They currently stand on eight points from five games while St Joseph’s lost for the second successive game.
Tubridy continued his good scoring form for Clare in Kildysart on Monday when he notched a number of excellent scores against Estuary Gaels.

Kilrush 1-8  Liscannor 1-6

With veteran James Hehir returning to the Kilrush starting 15, the visitors scored a crucial Cusack Cup win over Liscannor in Moher last Saturday. The win lifts Kilrush off the bottom of the Cusack Cup table. They are now on three points, while Liscannor are a point ahead on four.
Kilrush led 0-5 to 0-4 at half-time with Rory O’Connor and Peadar McMahon combining to do their scoring, while Alan Clohessy and Brian Considine replied for Liscannor.
O’Connor scored Kilrush’s goal in the second half while Niall Considine’s shot also found the net at the opposite side.
Kilrush, however, held on for an important win with further scores from Rory O’Connor, Jim Young and Stephen Sweeney.

Miltown St Joseph’s 1-12  Clondegad 2-7

Despite the fact they are still trying to find a replacement management team following the resignation of Michael Neylon and his selectors, Miltown St Joseph’s recorded a second successive win in the Cusack Cup when they finished strongly at Ballynacally on Saturday.
At the end of an evenly contested first half, the sides went to the break level at 0-6 each.
Gary Egan and Desi Mollohan got the visitors off to a good start but the home side hit back with points from Eoin Griffin, Gary Brennan, Eoin Donlon and Paudge McMahon to take a two-point lead by the 12th minute.
A brace from Desi Mollohan had the sides level at the end of the first quarter. Gary Brennan put Clondegad ahead but another brace from Molohan had Miltown back in front. Francie Nealon had the final say of the half when he hit a Clondegad point to tie up matters for the fourth time.
Miltown went in front at the start of the second half but then Shane Brennan converted from the penalty spot for the opening goal of the game.
Mollohan and Kevin Keavey responded with points to level matters again before Micheal Malone pointed Miltowen back in front inside the last 10 minutes. Gary Brennan levelled again and Clondegad went back in front when Shane Brennan scored another penalty.
John Meade pointed for Miltown, who jumped back in front as the game went into injury time when Mollohan struck for his side’s goal. Shane Brennan saw his effort rebound off the upright before Mollohan put Miltown two clear with another point, which sealed their win.
