Scariff Community College booked a place in the semi-final of the Senior C Hurling Championship (Corn Mhic Ruairí) for the second year in a row when they defeated Coláiste an Phiarsaigh from Cork at Kilfinnane on Wednesday.
The East Clare side went into this tie on the back of a runaway first round win over NewcastleWest who they beat on a 9-33 to 1-1 scoreline.
Helped by a goal from Colin Burke, the winners were 1-11 to 1-3 in front at half time. Luke Solan increased their lead with two early second half points.
Coláiste an Phairsaigh fought back to within six points but then Andrew Flaherty hit for the winners third goal to stretch their lead to nine points and kill off the Cork side’s hopes of victory.
Best for the winners were Cathal Madden, John Scanlon, Martin Cunningham, Colin Burke and Luke Solan.
