Ryanair scotch Shannon ‘chaos’ claim

RYANAIR have rejected claims that the gardaí were called to Shannon because of angry passengers on board a flight that had been diverted there, having been due to go to Cork.

In a statement, Ryanair’s Robin Kiely said, “Ryanair flight FR8285 [from Krakow] on April 17 diverted into Shannon due to strong crosswinds at Cork Airport. Passengers were requested to remain onboard as the pilots were waiting for winds to abate at Cork.

“Some passengers requested to be allowed offload in Shannon and were permitted to do so. The majority remained onboard and the aircraft departed for Cork after a two hour, 30 minute wait on the ground in Shannon.

“The claims that the aircraft was on the ground for six hours, that chaos broke out or that police were called are untrue. Ryanair sincerely apologises to all passengers affected by these adverse weather diversions and delays.”
