Ruan and Parteen in play-offs

Ruan and Parteen will be in the play offs for the Division 2 hurling title but final positions in this group weren’t decided at the time of writing. The outcome of the game between Sixmilebridge and Scariff will have a big bearing. Both are in contention with the Bridge needing just a draw to secure the third qualifying spot.

A win for Scariff over the Bridge will leave both and Crusheen tied on ten points and it will then come down to score difference. Crusheen can’t improve and are currently behind the other two so they will lose out. A win for Scariff by two points or more will see them go through in third spot.

Ruan look set to take top spot and this will mean a place in the final and guarantee them promotion to Division 1B. they were unlucky to lose out on promotion for the past two seasons.

Last week they scored a seven-point win over Parteen in a tie that ended on a score of 0-17 to 1-7.
At the other end of the ladder, Killanena, who failed to win a game and Ennistymon have been relegated. Ennistymon needed to win against Ogonnelloe last week to keep their hopes of avoiding the drop alive. They looked to be on the way to victory when they led by four points with just over five minutes to go but Ogonnelloe put in a storming finish to claim victory.

Intermediate
Newmarket, Inagh-Kilnamona and Cratloe are through to the semi-finals of the intermediate hurling league. A number of teams are in contention for the fourth semi-final spot that will go to Meelick if they can beat Clonlara in their final game. Clooney-Quin had been relegated.

Junior A

O’Callaghans Mills have topped the junior A league and they are joined in the semi-finals by Tubber, St Joseph’s and Kilmaley. The latter three were tied on 10 points each. On score difference St Joseph’s and Tubber fill second and third places and will meet in the semi-final leaving fourth placed Kilmaley to play the Mills in the other semi-final.

Junior B

In the Junior B League, a three-way play-off is required to determine who qualifies for the semi-final from Division 5A. Corofin’s win over Scariff has left Scariff, Crusheen and Newmarket level on points. As there were some walkovers, score difference cannot be applied. Feakle and Clarecastle have topped the other two divisions and are through to the semi-finals.
