Rhine Rovers a step away from title

Rhine Rovers took a giant step towards the first division title when they defeated Connolly Celtic on Monday evening at Lees Road.
A win over Bunratty-Cratloe in their final game this Friday will see the Quin-based side crowned champions.
They took the lead midway through the first half when Ivor White scored and this goal separated the teams at the break.
Midway through the second half Cathal O’Sullivan doubled their advantage but straight from the kick-off Connolly pulled one back through Alan Markham.
Going into the final quarter, the winners made some changes and two minutes from time they sealed the points when Christy O’Brien finished off a good move.

Bridge Celtic proved too strong for Bunratty-Cratloe at Bunratty on Sunday.
Despite finishing the game with eight players and going behind to an Ally McMillan goal midway through the second half, the O’Briensbridge side fought back to collect the points.
Trevor Howard scored twice for the winners, with Wesley Fleming getting the other goal. Howard’s first goal, the equaliser, was a tremendous effort and gave the home side no chance. Stephen Howard, Pat Conway and Fergal Lyons were sent off for the winners while Paul Butler was dismissed for the home side.

Corofin Harps kept up their challenge for promotion with this victory over Turnpike Rovers. A goal in each half from Fergal Neylon and Ian Hassett sealed the tie.
