Rent rates in county remain static

RENTS in Clare were relatively static in the year to mid-2013, according to the quarterly Daft.ie rental report, which was released this week.

There was a slight fall in the Banner County, down by one-per-cent in the 12 months to June 2013. The average advertised rent is now €543.

Most of Munster saw quite small changes, and Ronan Lyons, economist with daft.ie said that while there was relatively little change in much of the country, Dublin was a bit different. “Demand for accommodation remains strong in urban areas, especially in Dublin. As a result, with properties shifting faster, students may feel more rushed when looking for accommodation for the year ahead. Outside Dublin though, rents are more or less in line with the levels charged last year. This gap between Dublin and much of the rest of the country is a trend seen consistently over the last 12 to 18 months.”

The average rent in Munster is €583, the same as it was one year ago, but still 26.6% down from the peak.
Across the country there were one third fewer properties available to rent on August 1, compared to the same date in 2012.

Daft.ie is the country’s largest property website. The latest audited report from ABC recorded monthly traffic of 130 million page impressions and 1.976 million unique users per month across Daft Media’s website (daft.ie, rent.ie, let.ie and property.ie).

Daft.ie reports on the state of the property market have been published quarterly going back to 2005. The index is based on the asking price for rents on properties advertised to let on daft.ie.

Clare students are about to begin renting properties in a number of centres in the near future. Those going to Limerick and Waterford will typically be facing slightly lower prices than last year, while those going to Galway, Cork and Dublin will be looking at prices that have gone up over the last 12 months.
