YOUTH group leaders, social workers and those working in the mental health area in Clare have been invited to attend  a conference in Galway.
Mental Health Ireland will once again focus on young people at its annual conference in the Radisson Hotel from May 21 – 23.
The theme of this year’s conference, which will be officially opened by Minister of State John Moloney, is Promoting Positive Mental Health in Young People.
On Saturday, May 22, Dr Kieran Moore, consultant child and adolescent psychiatrist will speak on young people and mental health.
Principal speakers on Sunday morning will be the members of Jigsaw Youth Panel, a free and confidential support service for people aged 15 to 25, which is designed to promote systems of care that are more accessible, youth-friendly, integrated and engaging.
The conference will include four workshops with an emphasis on mental health issues and support activities relevant to young people. They will include workshops on promoting positive mental health, treating behavioural problems, the Young Mental Health Ireland movement and CARE (Community Action Response in Emergency).
