THE Clare branch of the Alzheimer Society of Ireland is holding a tea party this Saturday in St Anthony’s Hall, Ennis.
Up to 70 volunteers and staff of the local branch of the society are making cakes and treats for the event and all involved are encouraging people in the town on Saturday to come and have their break there.
“Our fundraising is more important than ever before, as our funding from the HSE has been reduced, so we really need to make as much money as we can to ensure that we can continue to provide vital services for people living with alzheimers,” Ann Bedder, secretary of the local branch of the society said.
She added that the tea party would not be possible without the help of their network of volunteers, who are pulling out all the stops in their own kitchens, baking for the event. “There will be a great selection of cakes and treats for people to have with a cup of tea. We appeal to the people of Ennis to support our event,” she said.
Next Thursday is the Alzheimers Society National Tea Day and there will be collections in Ennis in Dunnes Stores, Tesco and many other locations across the county. At all collection points, volunteers will also have leaflets on the services provided by the society.
A tea morning will be held in the presbytery of Ennis Cathedral following 10am mass on the day.
