THE Village Carnival is one of the highlights of the year in Newmarket and this year Paddy Casey will play at it on August 24.
Also playing on the day will be Cat Dowling, Big September and Three Screws Loose while Hazel McMahon will be MC.
A Dubliner, Casey began playing guitar before he was a teenager, and spent 12 years busking and gigging. In his mid-20s he was approached by a Sony scout and he subsequently signed with them, before releasing his first album AMEN (So Be It) in 1999. After its release he toured with huge acts like The Pretenders, REM, Blondie and Tracy Chapman.
In 2003 he recorded his album Living became a huge hit. Containing songs like The Lucky One, Saints and Sinners and Want It Can’t Have It, the album went multi-platinum and he toured extensively on the back of its success.
The next album Addicted to Company (Part 1) was released in 2007 and after it he parted company with his record label. Addicted to Company won the Meteor award for Best Irish Album.
Last year he returned to the scene with a new album, The Secret Life Of. The first single from it was entitled Wait featuring the Shannon Gospel Choir.
