BURREN Tug of War Club were the overall winners in both the novice and the lightweights in the Munster Tug of War League.
Round eight, the final round, was held on Sunday in Aghern hosted by the Harps Club.
Here, the Burren shone out to take the novice section in the 640kg against Araglen by 2-0, to take the Harps Perpetual Cup.
In the senior section, Burren just got piped in the semi-finals by Ballyhooly by 2-1. Considering that Burren are only a 600kg team, they did very well up against heavier and more experience teams of senior class. Glenhill went on to beat Ballyhooly in the final 2-0, to take the Harps Perpetual Cup.
Overall, Burren won this senior section of the league as they had more points over the eight rounds, 33 to 26 for Glenhill. They now go forward to compete in the Munster Championships this Sunday in 630kg at the Inishannon Vintage & Steam Rally in Cork.
