Opening-round victory for Ennistymon

Ennistymon 2-9   Éire Óg 0-7

ENNISTYMON scored a comprehensive Round 1 Cusack Cup win over Éire Óg in Ennis last Sunday.

The winners started well and an early Joey Rouine goal helped them into an early lead. They led 1-5 to 0-4 at half-time with Clare U-21 panellist Cathal McConigley pointing twice in the opening half, while Joey Rouine, Alan Horan and Brian Conway also pointed.

Shane Daniels, Graham Glynn and Seán O’Meara pointed for the Ennis team in the opening half. The game was still there to be won 15 minutes from time, although Ennistymon led 1-7 to 0-7 at that stage.

A late goal from Willie Murphy finished the game and secured the result for Ennistymon, while Conway and Joe Dowling had added earlier points.
