WITH less than three weeks to go until the sixth Ennis Street Festival takes over the town, the winners of the schools programme design competition have been announced.
Rang Naionáin Shinsearacha and Muinteoir Clíona Ní Chonghail, Gaelscoil Mhíchíl Cíosóg, Inis, were the winners of this year’s poster competition.
Each year, the festival encourages school children in the area to do some artistic work under the festival’s theme, with the winning poster chosen as the festival programme cover and featured throughout the programme.
This year’s theme is Opening Doors, with the idea of opening minds and hearts and the pupils have been busy over the last few months creating their masterpieces.
This is the third year of the poster competition, where the festival invites children to enter and participants were encouraged to use recycled materials for their designs.
According to organisers of the festival, “The festival team would like to thank everyone who took part in this year’s competition. They were delighted with the huge response the competition received. The judges had many beautiful and imaginative pictures to choose from.”
Glór will be home to many of the entries from these young artists during the festival and the month of July and all are welcome to visit the exhibition.
The festival gave a special mention to Raana Bennett from fourth class in Ennis National School and to ASD Class 2, St Clare’s School.
