On show in Corofin

Once again this year the horse-showing classes are expected to attract huge interest, particularly among equine enthusiasts across the county.
The show will include a heat for the Irish Draught Foal Championship, the final of which takes place at Bantry Show, with competitors fighting for a prize fund of €3,000. There is also prize money on offer for the County Clare Agricultural Brood Mare Championship. The Filly Foal Championship, Red Mills Non-Thoroughbred and Two-Year-Old and Three-Year-Old Filly All-Ireland Championship qualifiers will all be contested at this year’s show.
In the vegetable section, classes will include the Bridge Town Collection of Vegetables All-Ireland Qualifier and the Bord Bia All-Ireland Quality Potato Championship qualifier, with both finals taking place at the Tullamore Show.
There will also be the Domestic Art Championship, which comprises articles in home baking, as well as hand crafts and vegetables.
The dog show has a wide variety of classes, including any breed puppy led by a child; non-pedigree dog and the dog I would like to take home.
There are also classes for terriers, collies, gundogs, pointers, setters, spaniels and labradors. This year, the North Clare Show has been chosen to host two qualifying places for the Puppy Parlour, Kenmare, Munster Dog Championship. The classes include small dog any breed to be led by a child under 16 years and large dog to be led by an adult. The final will be held in Kilgarvan Show at the end of August.
This year’s show also includes cattle championships, 18 jumping competitions for horses and ponies, sheep classes, artwork, photography, children’s section, donkey section and a host of other special interest areas.
The indoor section includes classes for farm produce, horticulture, home crafts, poultry, eggs, turf and photography, with 21 classes to choose from in the flower display events, including potted geraniums, potted roses, hanging baskets and window boxes.
Organisers are encouraging people both in the locality and countywide to participate in or attend the show.
