Shannon Olympic B captured the second division league cup title at the County grounds on Sunday when they overcame the challenge of Rhine Rovers.
The all-important goal came in the opening quarter when Ian Gallagher got in the vital strike after being put through by Greg Keane.
Rhine Rovers should have been in front at this stage as they had a couple of excellent chances in the early stages of the game
They piled on the pressure, particularly in the second half, in search of an equaliser but the Shannon side held firm to capture the title.
Rovers had a golden opportunity to level shortly before the finish when they were awarded a penalty but Mark Hanrahan’s effort went high over the bar.
After the game Clare soccer league chairman Jim Madden presented the trophy to the winning captain Greg Keane.
