West Limerick 4-14   North Clare Colleges 0-4

A physically stronger West Limerick Colleges outfit were comfortable winners over North Clare Colleges in this Corn Uí Mhuirí, Munster Colleges Senior A Football Championship, tie played at Meelick on Wednesday.

The winners took control from an early stage and when the half-time whistle sounded, they were well on the way to victory when they held a 3-5 to 0-1 lead.

To their credit, the North Clare team battled hard but they failed to match the all-round balance of their opponents.

Maccon Byrne, Kieran Killeen, Jack O’Dea, Paul Carkill and Declan Stack did well for the Clare side.
The game between West Clare Colleges and Macroom did not go ahead after the Clare outfit, who had lost their opening two games, withdrew from the competition earlier this week.

North Clare Colleges: Darragh Clancy (Ennistymon VS); Ciarán O’Neill (Ennistymon VS), Declan Stack (Mary Immaculate, Lisdoonvarna); Gearóid Leyden (Ennistymon VS); Jack Fitzgerald (Ennistymon VS), Paul Carkill Cnnistymon VS), Kieran Killeen (St Joseph’s  Spanish Point); Jack O’Dea (Ennistymon VS) Maccon Byrne (Mary

Harty Cup

The final round of games in the league section of the Dr Harty cup, Munster Colleges Senior A Hurling Championship, are scheduled for next week.

St Flannan’s will claim top spot in the group if they account for Doon CBS at Gaelic grounds at 1.30pm. However, victory for Doon will leave three teams – Dungarvan Colleges, St Flannan’s and Doon – level on points and it will then be down to scoring difference to determine placings.

St Flannan’s will have to show greater urgency that was evident in their last outing if they are to maintain their winning run.

Both St Caimin’s and Gaelcholaiste Mhuire from Cork go into their game at Ballyagran without a win. Árd Scoil Rís will be hoping to maintain their unbeaten run when they take on De La Salle at Cashel. All games will throw in at 1.30pm.

Corn Phádraig
After last week’s games in the Corn Phádraig (Senior B Hurling Championship) the way is clear for the quarter-finals, which are scheduled for January.

The draws will be made early in the new year and will feature two Clare schools, St Josephs Tulla who have topped their group and Rice College.

The eight quarter-finalists are Youghal and Rice College; Kilmallock and Borris-Illeigh; Dungarvan CBS and Rochestown; St Joseph’s, Tulla and Mallow.
