Newmarket take control from Inch

Two weeks after their game at Newmarket was abandoned leading to suspensions and the awarding of the points, Inch Crusaders and Newmarket Celtic B clashed in the second leg at Lees Road on Sunday.

 

Inch, who had been awarded the points after the abandoned tie, took the lead on 15 minutes when Andy O’Flynn scored a penalty after Padraig Talty was fouled.

Newmarket equalised from a penalty on 20 minutes through Ciarán McCoy after a handball in the area. Colin Burke was sent off for Inch on 22 minutes after getting a second yellow card.

Newmarket went in front on 24 minutes through Cathal Hayes and increased their lead just before half time when McCoy hit his second. Inch got back in the game on 65 minutes when Rory Killeen scored from a well delivered free kick from John Earls.

Newmarket wrapped up the points on 75 minutes with a goal from Ryan Corry.

Bridge United A 3   Moher Celtic 2

Moher Celtic’s promotion hopes took another dive on Sunday when they went under to Bridge United A at Sixmilebridge. The win puts the Bridge in a strong position to be promoted as they are now in second place and they have a couple of games in hand.

Trevor Maxwell gave the Bridge the lead but the visitors hit back and leveled through Paul Cagney. The Bridge were then dealt a double blow when Alex Cole was sent off. Moher converted the resultant free to take the lead, the goal coming from Declan Fawl.

A Trevor Maxwell penalty brought the sides level before Darragh Fitzgerald hit the winner.
Moher also finished with 10 men after Kevin Scales was dismissed.

Bridge Celtic A 3   Corofin Harps 2

Bridge Celtic moved into third spot when the defeated the league leaders at O’Briensbridge on Sunday.

An outstanding performance from Conor Hynes inspired this latest victory for the club celebrating their 50th anniversary this year.

The South East Clare side got on top early on and took the lead through a Paul McEvoy header. Wesley Fleming had their second from the penalty spot before a Daniel Aherne header made it 3-0 and this was the position with fifteen minutes remaining.

Corofin Harps pulled one back when Stephen Keane’s effort took a deflection off a Celtic defender and they had a second from Keane but Celtic held on for a merited win.
