NEWMARKET Celtic A continued their march towards the Premier League title with this win over Lifford at Cassidy Park on Sunday.
The home side had the better of the first-half exchanges but failed to breach the visitors’ defence.
In the second half, Newmarket got the upperhand and Daithi O’Connell scored what proved to be the all-important goal with 20 minutes remaining.

IN a high-scoring tie at Lisdoonvarna on Sunday, Burren United proved too strong for Shannon Olympic A.
Burren took the lead after 10 minutes from the penalty spot through Pat Nagle after he had been fouled in the area. They quickly added a second through Evan Talty and led 2-0 at half-time.
Shannon Olympic had a few chances in the first half but they had to wait until the second half for their opening goal, which came from Stephen Dolan.
Martin McDonagh restored the winners’ two-goal advantage when he finished to the net after a good run. Substitute Neil Guilfoyle quickly made an impression when he pulled one back for the Shannon side.
Good pressure from Evan Talty led to the winners’ fourth goal before another substitute, Darren Duggan hit the target for Olympic.
Burren had the final say when, after pressure from Pat Nagle, the visitors conceded an own goal.

ENNIS Town Rock defeated Tulla United A at Lees Road on Sunday.
Stephen Hickey scored a hat-trick for the winners who were never headed in this tie. Hickey gave them the lead midway through the first half but Tulla hit back and Denis Murphy levelled following a Trevor Corbett corner.
The winners were 2-1 in front at half-time after Hickey struck for his second and he completed his hat-trick midway through the first half when putting his side two goals clear.
With the final whistle approaching, Paudge Vaughan pulled one back for the visitors but time wasn’t on their side and the Ennis outfit held on for victory.
Midway through the first half, Tulla lost goalkeeper Whelan to injury. Sunny Jay took over between the posts.

THERE were few chances in this all-Ennis Premier League clash at Lees Road on Sunday and a share of the spoils was a fair result on the day.
A Hermitage effort from Noel Frawley rebounded off the upright, while goalkeeper David Phillips made a couple of impressive saves.
