Newmarket Celtic advance in Munster Junior Cup

Newmarket Celtic A 3   Hermitage A 2

NEWMARKET progressed to Round 3 in the Munster Junior Cup when they overcame Hermitage A at McDonogh Park on Sunday.

The home side took the lead through Alan Kelly and this goal separated the teams at half-time.

Early in the second half, Colm Treacy put Newmarket two goals ahead before Hermitage pulled one back when Adrian Power scored.

Substitute Diarmuid Nash restored Celtic’s two-goal advantage when he found the net but the ’Tage cut the lead to one again with a goal from Ritchie Fitzgerald.

Despite their best efforts, they were unable to get through to an equaliser to force the game into extra time.
