New single on the way from Steo Wall

ANTICIPATION is building ahead of the release of the new single by acclaimed Clare-based singer-songwriter, Steo Wall.

‘More Blacks More Dogs More Irish’ is a hard-hitting new single, whose name is a play on words taken from the signs that used to hang on shops and pubs in England in the ‘60s and ‘70s.

The single will be the first release taken from Steos eagerly anticipated second studio album, Street Wisdom For Lost Souls. The track features Toshín, an African Irish soul singer who starred along- side Steo and a host of other emerging artists on a two-part RTÈ music series entitled Foster & Allen, Lost in Music. The second and final episode airs this Thursday, October 13, at 10.15pm on RTÈ One.

Mixing traditional Irish folk with some contemporary Irish rap, Steo brings the listener on a journey from the badlands of his native Dublin to the beauty of the West coast of Ireland.

Steo paints a picture of rebellious, loved friends and adored family members. His new album is an homage to those gone before him. It is these family members who give an understanding of the depths of his musical influences.

The moving ‘Sarah Doranis an ode to Steo’s traveller grandmother is the third track on the album and Davey Spillane’s whistle provides a beautifully fitting tribute.

‘Where I’m From’ is a mix of spoken word and folk-inspired melodies, all woven into an acoustic groove. Having received national and international air play, spending two weeks on RTÉ Radio1 recommended playlist, ‘Where I’m From’ has been very well received and a critical success thus far.

In 2018, Steo was asked to perform at the Inaugural RTÉ Radio1 Folk Awards in Vicar Street. Then, he was asked to sing, ‘Rainy Night In Soho’ on national television, as part of the Ireland’s Favourite Folk Song campaign in 2019.

Steo has been busy touring all over Ireland and England. His authentic style has earned the praise of none other than Damien Dempsey, as well as a raft of critical acclaim.

‘More Dogs More Blacks More Irish’ is due for release on October 28.

Steo will play The Attic in Doolin on Sunday, November 13.
