New service to support mothers

A NEW support service for mothers was set up in Ennis last week by a life and parent coach. The Just Mums group hopes to give support, encouragement, information and pampering to mothers with babies under 12 months old.

The group will meet every Saturday morning at the Rowan Tree Hostel in Ennis between 10am and 12pm. Attendance is free of charge.
Just Mums was created by life and parent coach, Andreja Varga of Planika coaching. After the birth of her child and the experience of being a stay-at-home mum, Andreja saw the need for a support group that would focus on mothers, giving them time and support that would be relevant and useful to them.
Andreja’s experience as a youth and community support worker has given her skills to provide support for groups in need. She is the owner of Planika, life and parent coaching, which provides coaching sessions for parents needing to deal with aspects of their family life.
“I loved being at home but I sometimes felt isolated and worn out, wishing for there to be some release and support. The many parent and baby groups across the county were a useful release but are primarily focused on the child. I felt there was a need for a group that would support the mother,” Andreja commented.
The Just Mums group aims to be a forum where mothers can get help for specific challenges they face with parenting and their baby.
“Mothers will be able to get information on relevant resources available to them across the county for their particular needs,” she added. “We aim to listen and advise mothers on challenges, fears and worries they might have. Mothers can find support and talk about topics relating to their baby, such as not bonding with their child, post-natal depression and trying to cope. All this, along with plenty of pampering,” she added.
Andreja continued, “The Just Mums group wants mums to have time for themselves and care for themselves. It is a place for mothers to take time for just them in discussions but also being able to spend private time with a qualified holistic practitioner.”
The holistic therapies offered will change each week and will include massage, homeopathy and aromatherapy. There will also be opportunities for beauty therapies, such as facials, manicures and other skin care.
Mothers can bring their baby with them to the group sessions and if they wish, babysitters will mind the children while they engage in the group or relax with a pampering treatment.
All services are free of charge but donations can be made.
