THE launch of this year’s Cooley Collins Traditional Festival takes place in Harte’s Pub on Bridge Street, Gort next Monday from 8pm to 10pm with Kevin Rohan of Galway Bay FM.
“This is the 26th year of the festival but this year promises to be bigger and better with a line-up of top traditional musicians, céilís and concerts with all pubs having informal sessions,” said Councillor Gerry Finnerty, PRO for the festival.
The Cooley Collins Traditional Festival will take place over the October Bank Holiday weekend, beginning on Friday, October 22 and continuing through to Monday, October 25.
“At Monday night’s launch there will be a host of local musicians, plus all musicians and artists will be attending the concert and workshop on the festival weekend,” Mr Finnerty stated.
“We are a new committee and we think we have prepared a good programme for this year’s festival. Despite the recession, we managed to get funding from Diagio, the Arts Council and Fáilte Ireland,” he added.
Further information is available from committee members; chairman, Michael Hennelly; secretary, Mary Moloney; joint treasurers, Noel Corless and Rita Curran or PRO, Gerry Finnerty.
