Narrow defeat to Dublin in national league

CLARE put up a great performance in round two of the National Camogie League but ended up losing by the minimum margin at Parnell Park on Saturday.
The winners held a three-point advantage at half-time when the score was 1-7 to 2-1 but Dublin edged in front in the second period when they confined the visitors to just one point.
Dublin got off to a dream start with a goal in the first minute from Maire Moynihan but Clare hit back two minutes later with a goal from Deirdre Murphy, before taking the lead with points from Róisín O’Brien and Danielle Sheedy.
Scores were coming quickly and Dublin went back in front in the eighth minute when Moynihan struck for her second goal.
Clare had their best spell after this and responded with six unanswered points before Dublin had the final score of the half, their opening point.
After a scoreless third quarter, Clare extended their lead when Deirdre Murphy pointed after 16 minutes but Dublin finished strongly and five unanswered points gave them victory by a point.
This weekend, Clare will have their first home game of the campaign when they entertain Wexford at Clarecastle at 12.30pm.
