Munster medal haul for Ennis swimmers

THE Ennis Swimming and Lifesaving Club grade C swimmers enjoyed a successful outing in Nenagh recently in a Munster-graded gala.  This gala marked the end of  the swimming season and all the swimmers were determined to achieve personal best (pb) times. 
Overall, the club won a total of 32 medals (eight gold, 11 silver and 13 bronze). At the end of the day, there were two swimmers who advanced to the grade B level. 
Aoife Glavin, in the girls 12-13 age group secured her spot finishing the 100m freestyle in a time of 1:29.49 which was well under the 1:32.00 needed. She also won gold medals in the 50m freestyle and 50m breaststroke. 
In the same age group, Fiona Quinn swam a superb 100m individual medley, while establishing a six second pb and finishing in a time of 1:42.94.  Niamh Staunton won a bronze medal and set a two second pb by swimming the 50m backstroke in a time of 46.60.  Laoise Hill also set a two second pb in her 50m freestyle race, finishing in 40.94 to earn the bronze medal. 
In the girls 11 and under group, Fiona Neylon put in a good swim on her way to a bronze medal in the 50m freestyle. 
In the girls 14-15 age group, Caiomhe Tweedy won two gold medals in the 50m backstroke and 50m breaststroke, one silver medal in the 100m individual medley and two bronze medals in the 50m and 100m freestyle.  Emma Hurson captured the silver medal in the 50m breaststroke, while Jagada Krajewska won two silver medals in the 50m freestyle and 50m backstroke. She added to this a bronze medal in the 100m individual medley. 
In the boys 11 and under, Conor Sheehy put in a good effort and won the gold medal in the 50m backstroke and a silver medal in the 50m freestyle. 
In the boys 12-13 age group, Jack Shannon won a bronze medal in the 100m freestyle finishing in 1:25.34 which was a six second pb.
The 50m backstroke and the 50m breaststroke saw the Ennis swimmers take all the medals. In the 50m backstroke, Niall Coote won gold, David Sheehy took the silver and there was a tie between Seán Collins and Alexander Carr for the bronze medal, both finishing in a time of 46.97. 
The 50m breastroke saw Eoin Hartigan win the gold medal, Darragh Broderick the silver and Seán Collins the bronze. Lorcan Casey swam well and won the gold medal in the 50m freestyle, while team-mate David Sheehy won the bronze medal.
In the boys 14-15 age group, Ronan Brigdale won a bronze medal in the 50m freestyle.
