Munster Masters and Juvenile B Championships

The Munster Masters and Juvenile B U-9 to U-19 Cross Country Championships will take place at ­Dromoland, next to the Clare Inn on the Old Newmarket-on-Fergus Road, this Sunday, starting at 11.30am.

The Juvenile B cross country for U-9 to U-19 will be followed by the masters ladies’ 4,000m and the final race will be masters men’s 7,000m. 

The masters ladies’ Clare teams will be led by Marie Carey (Ennis Track), along with Veronica Colleran, Helen O’Hanlon, Aishling Power, Ita Hanrahan, Siobhán Lennon, Hilda O’Connor, (all (Ennis Track and Michelle O’Mahoney and Sue Garrahy (both (Kilmurry Ibrickane-North Clare). 

Rita Kierce (St Mary’s) will lead out a very strong O-50s team along with Cushla Murphy Hehir (Marian), Carmel McDomhnaill, (West Limerick) and (Marian O’Loughlin (Ennis Track). 

The masters men’s team has a very strong line-up in the O-50s, with Eugene Moynihan, Ambrose Heagney (Kilnaboy), Iggy Landers (St Cronan’s), Tom Mackey, James Kenny, Michael Harvey all (Kilmurry Ibrickane-North Clare)  and Tom Madden (Marian). 

The leading contenders for the O-35s include James McIntyre (BMOH), along with John Hannon (BMOH), Willie Devitt and Julio Cesear F Castro, (both Kilmurry Ibrickane-North Clare), Kenneth Hickey, Frank Landy, Martin Glynn (all Ennis Track), Pat Healy (Marian) and Pat Morrissey (Ennis Track).

15 Clare AAI novice B plus junior ladies and men’s cross country, also U-8, U-10, U-12, U-14 cross country relays on the lands Patrick O’Dea, Clonlohan, Old Shannon Road, ­Newmarket-on-Fergus, starting at 12 noon.
16 Clare Athletics relays trials U-10, U-12, U-14, at the Lees Road Sports Complex starting at 10am for Munster Cross Country Championships in January.
