Clare Community Games were back in action again after the Easter break with the futsal competitions taking place on Saturday last in St Flannan’s College. The event was co-ordinated by Flan Brennan.
The standard of competition was very high with some very exciting games. On Saturday morning, the boys’ competition involving five teams took place.
Ruan were beaten by a much stronger Killimer-Knockerra. Ennis B were also beaten by Inch-Connolly-Kilmaley 5-1.
In the semi-final Killimer and Inch-Connolly-Kilmaley were tied at full-time with Inch edging ahead in extra time to earn a place in the final.
The final was a very exciting match with Ennis and Inch-Connolly-Kilmaley level at full time and again after extra time. Inch-Connolly-Kilmaley came out winners, 3-2 after a penalty shoot out.
In the afternoon it was the turn of the girls with only four teams taking part. Sixmilebridge-Kilmurry beat Ruan 3-0 in a good match. Cratloe came out 3-1 winners against Ennis; Sixmilebridge-Kilmurry took on near neighbours Cratloe in the final. This was a very tough and exciting match and a repeat of last years final.
Sixmilebridge-Kilmurry were the winners on 4-2. Both Inch-Connolly-Kilmaley and Sixmilebridge-Kilmurry now go on to represent Clare in the Munster finals in UL on Saturday, July 9.

Ennis finals
Ennis St John’s Community Games will hold their area athletics finals in Lees Road on Monday and Tuesday at 6.30pm sharp.
Monday night is for U-6, U-8 and U-10 competitors while Tuesday is for U-12, U-13, U-14 and U-16 boys and girls. All children must be underage on July 31 and from the Ennis Area only. Entry forms can be down loaded from www.enniscommunitygames.net.

The Tulla swimming finals were held last week. The results were:
Girls U-8 freestyle: 1. Ava Cronin; 2. Sybil Perkins.
Boys U-10 freestyle: 1. Jimmy O’Gorman; 2. Liam McInerney.
Girls U-12 breaststroke: 1. Aoife Floyd,

Area finals
All areas should now be holding their area athletic finals to select their competitors for the county athletic finals that will be staged on Sunday, June 26, at Lees Road.
The closing date for entries if Friday, May 20, and all entries must go to Mary Lenihan, 8 Clonmoney Grove, Crusheen.
The closing date for entries for variety, Swimming and outdoor soccer is Friday while pitch and putt entries must be submitted by Friday, May 20, with Friday, May 27, the last date for entries for gymnastics.
