Round 3 of the Jerry Murphy Tyres (Hancook) Munster Autocross Championship was hosted by the Clare Motor Club last Sunday.
The loose surface event took place in the A&R Poole Quarry in Shinrone, County Offaly.
A challenging course was laid out by clerk of the course, Gerry O’Brien and his team of Clare Motor Club officials.
The outright winner on the day was Whitby Moynan from Nenagh driving his Toyota Special and he was fastest on all three timed runs with a time 05:00.35. Second fastest and the winner in Class 6 was Gordon Percy, also from Nenagh, driving a Kawasaki Special on 05:02.21, while third fastest and second in Class 6 with a time of 05:07.33 was Joe McHale from Maynooth, brother of Austin McHale, in his JB Buggy.
Clare Motor Club member John Lernihan from Inagh had a fantastic run in his Mitsubishi Evo Lancer and finished first in Class 4 and fourth overall.
Other Clare Club members who received awards included Tom Ryan, who finished second in Class 1; Pa Horan finished second in Class 2; Niall O’Sullivan was the winner in Class 3 while Brian Liddy received the best Clare Motor Club member award and Michael Fitzgibbon received the best newcomer award.
