Morey’s goal seals victory for the ’Bridge

Sixmilebridge 1-13   Inagh-Kilnamona 0-13

A goal by Caimin Morey, four minutes from the end, following a long range free by goalkeeper Derek Fahy proved decisive in this Division 1A Clare Champion Cup tie played at O’Garney Park, Sixmilebridge on Sunday afternoon.

On a day when the sides were level on three occasions, a share of the spoils looked likely until Morey struck for the game’s only goal.
The home side held a one-point advantage at the break when the score was 0-7 to 0-6. Within a minute of the resumption they were level thanks to a Ger Arthur effort and Conor Tierney then scored an excellent point to put the visitors into the lead.
Three in a row had the Bridge ahead ten minutes into the half but like scores from Shane Griffin, Ger Arthur and Sean Devitt had Inagh-Kilnamona back in front with nine minutes remaining.
The loss of substitute Sean Devitt and full back Brian Glynn was a blow to the visitors while the home side also were dealt a blow with the loss of John Fennessy.
Inagh-Kilnamona fought back after Morey’s goal to cut the lead to the minimum as the game went into injury time but a brace of Niall Gilligan points, the first a superb effort from play, sealed victory for the home side.

Newmarket 1-15   Whitegate 0-8

However, the visitors stepped up a gear in the second half and helped by a goal from Mike McInerney they got the upperhand.
