Mix it up at Glór

The Mixtape series returns to Glór on Friday for its second live music event in conjunction with the Clare Youth Service Music Project and the Mid-Western Regional Drugs Task Force.
Mixtape is an all-ages event, aimed at showcasing new and exciting music from around the country. The intimate event will provide a platform for alternative bands, producers, DJs and artists to present their work in a unique environment, with elements of visual projections, improvisation and music technology to the fore. It is a drug and alcohol free event, with all emphasis being placed on creativity, community and expression.
This Friday’s event will see Limerick’s up and coming alternative hip hop act The Hip Neck Blues Collective, Ballyvaughan’s fiddle phenomenon Daithí Ó Dronaí, Ennis’ own rising stars Capital Joy and Kilkee’s king of the beats, DJ Souths take to the Glór stage.
Doors open at 7pm and the gig will conclude at 9.30pm.
The Hip Necks Blues Collective formed in early 2011 and since then have been contracting new members and new sounds culminating in their debut single release last May. For more information on the band log onto www.facebook.com/pages/The-Hip-Neck-Blues-Collective/131207030283086?sk=info
Daithí Ó Dronaí shot to fame with his performance on the television competition series Must be the Music and uses loop stations, kaoss Pads, synthesizers and drum machines to create a unique and exceptional sound all centred around the fiddle.

Formerly known as the Elastic Band, Capital Joy is a four piece band that recently performed at the Out On A Limb records showcase in Dolans warehouse. They offer a unique blend of instrumental math rock with lush harmonies and subtle electronics.  They can be found online at www.facebook.com/pages/Capital-Joy/141900832550521?sk=info
