Megan follows her father’s lead

Megan Bredin has been selected on the Irish U-17 badminton team that will represent Ireland at the Catalunya U-17 Open on the February 16 and 17. Megan becomes the 13th junior badminton international from Ennis.

Her father Al (current Irish U-15 coach) was a junior international along with Donie O’Halloran, David Browne, Joyce McInerney, Rowan Eade, Catherine O’Shea, Darryl Eade, Amir Intisar, Ruth Kilkenny, Ciara Pender, Joanne Flanagan and current U-15 international Moya Ryan.

Moya won the Leinster open U-15 mixed with Matthew Lightbody (Lisburn) last weekend in Baldoyle in Dublin. She was also runner-up in the singles, where she was narrowly defeated by Kate Frost 21-15, 19-21, 21-19.

Alexandra Troy also had a fantastic weekend when she won the Leinster open U-11 singles, runner-up in the doubles. Alexandra recently won both the U-11 singles and mixed in the Ulster Open. Her partner in the mixed was again Daniel O’Meara, who had already won the U-11 Ulster doubles and was a finalist in the singles.
